Structure and Customization

  • Creation: Device creation flows are created and managed at the template level.
  • Multiple Flows: Each template can be equipped with multiple device creation flows to accommodate different use cases or scenarios.

Labels Step

Device creation flows can include a Labels step. In this step, users can select existing labels or create new ones, allowing devices to be categorized right at the point of creation.

The Label submodule is also available, enabling labels to be restricted on a template or device level.
This allows specific label sets to be assigned to particular device types or use cases.

Advantages

  • Streamlined Device Creation:
    • Guides users through the device creation process, reducing complexity and minimizing the risk of errors.
  • Consistency and Control:
    • Ensures that device creation processes are executed exactly as intended by platform managers.
    • Steps deemed essential cannot be skipped, ensuring consistency across devices.
  • Flexibility for Different Use Cases:
    • Multiple device creation flows allow the process to be tailored for various device types or scenarios.

Purpose

  • Simplifies the device creation process for end users while maintaining strict adherence to the platform managers' specifications.
  • Supports the efficient creation of new devices with minimal risk of misconfiguration.
