Pairing of Code and Device

Introduction

To understand why codes and devices need to be paired, it is necessary to understand that they each represent separate and unique entities. Each entity can be created and deleted individually and serves its own purpose.

Codes – regulate access to the platform

  • Each code has a unique URL that provides unique access to the platform
  • Each code can have its unique configuration of settings (article):
    • paired / unpaired
    • activated / deactivated
    • PIN protected / without PIN
    • related departments
  • Each code has its own history of received notifications (which disappear when disconnected, but can also be deleted manually)

Devices "Digital Twins" - store information and provide functionalities

  • Each digital device is unique and records and stores information of a unique physical device in the real world, e.g., user manual, customer interactions (a digital service record), etc. (article).

The main advantage of this situation is that it provides flexibility for various deployment strategies:

  • Code & Device can be created and deleted independently
  • Code & Device can be paired and unpaired
  • Code & Device can be assigned to different departments (see "Department Isolation" article)

Example Scenario:
You can create codes and produce QR code stickers, to have them in stock. Later, when service employees visit customers on site, they can attach stickers to physical devices and use the mobile application to create new digital devices and to pair them with the individual codes.
